Hi everyone,

We currently have two project level (2) bioinformatics data curation positions at IRRI to fill. I've asked human resources here to repost the positions to the IRRI web site (under Jobs), and to extend the application deadline to June 10th.

Both positions are more focused on curation of biological data sets relating to research consortia with which IRRI is involved, hence, require individuals with at least an M.Sc. in some suitable area of biology, with some demonstrated experience with bioinformatics, or at least, some introductory computer programming course, some experience with web site technologies (e.g. HTML), and perhaps, exposure to database technology (i.e. a relational database platform like MS Access or MySQL).

In addition, our systems administrator of our Linux cluster and related bioinformatics systems is leaving IRRI, so we will be posting his position very soon. The requirements for that position are more computer science based, more heavy familiarity with the Linux operating system in particular, and comfort with hardware/software troubleshooting. Programming experience, especially in Java, will also help.

While I'm thinking about this, does NIMBUS have a formal location for posting bioinformatics job postings in the Philippines? Such one stop shopping might be useful for Filipino biotech university graduates interested in bioinformatics.
