Weekend update

Wow, this blog doesn't get any love any more now that everyone and their mothers have their own blogs. Anyway, last Sunday, the Pisay 98 basketball team started their campaign in the alumni basketball tournament with a rousing win over batch 2001. I didn't get the final score, but we scored something like 103 and they scored something like 49. So, yey! Maybe Andrew can post some more details later...

UPDATE The score wasn't as lopsided as I originally figured, it was actually 101-62.

Nobody can forget their first love

I watched "The Notebook" last night with my housemate faye and her officemate lei. I liked the movie (guess i'm not too cynical anymore) and though it was kinda predictable, it didn't bother me. I also liked the young characters playing Noah and Ally. Noah played by Ryan Gosling was one of the killers in the movie "Murder By Numbers", he was the rich one, while Ally was portrayed by Rachel McAdams, the lead plastic in the movie "Mean Girls".

The story would be like our typical tele-novelas, the girl will be filthy rich while the guy is just a typical country man, but then they will fall in love. As usual, the parents of the rich girl disapprove of their love and so they did all they can to separate them. Seven years later, after having new lives on their own, they meet again and had to choose between the past and the present. Ok, enough of the plot.

The movie, though mostly dramatic also has a touch of comedy. Kumbaga sa lalaki, that's pogi points for me. The acting and the script were so natural. Lots of intense kissing and making out, and very funny sexy scenes. Yep, i just said funny. Well, just watch it to find out why.

If you like the love story of "A Walk to Remember", then i'm quite sure you'll like this movie. However, i must warn you that after watching the movie, you might end up wishing for a guy just like Ryan Gosling or a girl like Rachel McAdams. Now, i'm just not sure if that's good or bad.
