Pop Fiction

Whenever I watch Pulp Fiction, which I was doing instead of work earlier at the office, I end up craving for burgers and milkshakes. I'm not really fond of hamburgers, and I only usually eat burgers at Jollibee and Burger King. Fortunately for me, Jollibee also serves yummy milkshakes, and I won't have to pay 5 dollars for them.

Which reminds me of an idea I had earlier during the scene at Jack Rabbit Slim's, the Americana restaurant where Vincent Vega and Mia Wallace dined. I was thinking about how it would be cool to have a similar Pinoy restaurant, but this one celebrating Pinoy popular culture from the '80s instead.

And then I had to repress a loud chuckle when I realized that if you dined at that restaurant, there's a fairly good chance that the waiter who introduces himself as Chuckie Dreyfuss to serve you is *actually* Chuckie Dreyfuss himself.

Comments:

royale with cheese...

who's chuckie dreyfuss? hehe, i grew up watching FEN, far eastern network.. ung channel ng US bases nung nandito pa sila...

so, what exactly would a pinoy 80's-pop-based restaurant look like? i'm having a hard time imagining.

well for starters, instead of the set of "the ed sullivan show" (with ed sullivan as the maitre'd), we get "that's entertainment" with kuya germs. and instead of thunderbird convertibles, you'd see box-type lancers and old school isuzu geminis.

and when you say, "hey, our waiter is jovit moya, and the next section's got isabel granada!" you'll probably be looking at the real jovit moya and isabel granada...

i've never seen any more of those box-typed lancers... did they all just break-down? (this was before Mitsu's ZERO RUST protection)

cool idea. game! resto business!

ayos yung resto idea... but i don't think it will click. think about it - a food place reeking of cheap hairspray and an incessant playing of the "Bagets" theme song in the background.

who's chuckie dreyfuss? believe me, it's no loss if you don't know.

hey, no hating on the bagets theme songs... si gary v kumanta nun!

i'm growing up, getting down...

d ko hate yung bagets theme song. i kinda like it,actually.

AND, the bagets graduation was shot in pisay.

yes, it was. and most of the ninja kids movie was shot in forestry in LB.

yah, lans! i think that its rare to see boxed type cars that are in the same good condition as yours.

on a totally different note, jovit moya is a policeman now.

siguro effective na pulis si jovit moya.

"ok, mga mandurukot, monday group! pushers, tuesday group! ayus-ayusin nyo dance number nyo kundi bartolina ang abot nyo!"

i know chuckie dreyfuss. but who the heck is jovit moya?

si Dennis da Silva, in the news recently, dahil junkie na siya accused pa of rape...

hehehe syang tunay!

you guys remember dante barrona? :)

meron daw sariling recording label si Chuckie Dreyfuss ngayonsi andrew e. din, merong sariling record label. i'm just saying...
